Welcome to The Painted Wood Cottage, a division of The Habie Rose Collection. Here you will find hand painted whimsical wood pieces and hand painted signs. I have added only signs but will add some of my whimsical designs at a later date. I love to laugh and hope you get a good laugh at reading many of the signs. Some are serious, many are not. I have always been fascinated with how one can take something in raw form and turn it in to something so beautiful. I love working with my hands and creating things. My eyes "see" the potential in using many, many things to create beautiful handcrafted items. I have been an artisan for 37 years. In the early years, I loved painting whimsically on wood and creating dried and silk floral arrangements. I sold through "Craft Malls" all over the country and had a tiny little shop in a high tourist area, where some of my sold items ended up all over the world. During that time, I always had an interest in creating jewelry, soap and candles. I began studying many years ago, and a number of years ago, I began to breathe life into making it a reality. I am an artist who enjoys the designing and creative process and therefore, the painted wood that is offered for purchase, is what I have available at that time. It is not my intention to run a large assembly line type of business. I really enjoy creating my items and giving them particular attention and for that reason and to keep from losing myself in a large process, I will keep it small. Very simple operation...I sell what I have made at the time. If you see something you are interested in, it may be wise to purchase it at that time, before it is sold.
